How your eyebrows are groomed can make a considerable difference in your appearance. Eyebrows help shape your eyes and give you character. If you have bushy eyebrows, it’s important to keep them trimmed and well groomed. Most people need some kind of eyebrow maintenance. Many of these tips work well for women as well as men.

Never shave your eyebrows for a quick fix. You will regret it later when they all start growing back in. It will look obvious, and require constant maintenance — so save the razor for your beard.

Depilatories are not a good idea to use around the eye area and there’s plenty of room for mistakes. This can irritate your skin and your hairs will also grow back much quicker than waxing or tweezing.

Waxing your eyebrows is best done professionally, however there are many kits on the market for this purpose. They come with step-by-step instructions to simplify the process. If you decide to do this at home, have a professional do it the first time so you can see how it’s done. Be prepared for some temporary discomfort and pain.

Trimming Your Eyebrows

Depending on how thick your eyebrows are, sometimes all you need is a small pair of scissors to trim away the stray hairs. Grooming and trimming your brows is best done under a bright lights for accuracy.

First decide what areas need attention and slowly trim your eyebrows in the direction of hair growth. Don’t go overboard, if you trim your hairs too short, they will stick out and look silly. You may want to do this over a few days, after you have a chance to decide if you’re on the right track.

Plucking away Stray Eyebrow Hairs

Aside from waxing, tweezing is still the most efficient method for removing eyebrow hairs. If you need to pluck your eyebrows, keep a clean pair of tweezers handy for this use only.

Men are tempted to use tweezers for other things, such as cleaning their fingernails. Don’t! This will make them unsanitary and less affective. If you do this, you’ll probably need to buy a new pair when the ends don’t meet properly to grab the hairs.

Start off with moistened brows. Tweezing after a shower is ideal, but you can soak your brow area with a warm washcloth for several minutes and it will have the same effect. Comb your eyebrows in the direction of their growth and let them fall naturally in place.

After deciding which areas need thinning out, tweeze your eyebrows in the direction of hair growth. For an even look, start underneath, from the inside, out. Pull them out one by one to avoid mistakes. Be careful, some hairs may not grow back!

Tweeze the center of your eyebrows and look carefully to make sure you don’t get them too far apart. You can always go back later and remove additional hairs if you need more space.

Don’t pluck away too many hairs from the top of your brow. Target the obvious stray hairs and thin them out a little. Again, start from the center, then outwards.

Correcting Eyebrow Mistakes

Mistakes are bound to happen, even with a steady hand. If you should find yourself with some empty spaces or bald patches, don’t fret. Fill in your eyebrows with an eye pencil or eye shadow that closely resembles the color of your hairs. By grooming your brows and blending in the color, they will look more natural.

For many women, their lips are a source of disappointment. With all of the ads in magazines and on TV using models that have full, sexy lips — those of us with thin lips feel that we have somehow got shortchanged. Not anymore!

Easy Tips for Fuller Lips

Here are some simple tips and tricks to make your lips appear fuller with cosmetics. Check out our tips below to fool the eye and you’ll soon have lips that look luscious, plump and kissable.

Keep Your Lips Conditioned

Prevent dry, cracked lips with lip balm. Use lip balm with SPF when you are out in the daylight hours and before you go to bed at night to keep them in tip-top shape.

Prepare Your Base

For best results, start by applying foundation on your lips when you are putting on your make up. Set it with translucent loose or pressed powder. This will make a good base.

Make Your Lips Larger

Outline your lips with a lip liner that is closest to the color of your lips. Use the liner just beyond your lip line, increasing the size a little. Add some balance, shape and curves to the upper and lower lip if desired.

Fill Them In

Fill in your lips with a metallic lipstick (try Maybelline’s Wet Shine) using a brush, including the area you extended with the lip liner.

Use Lip Gloss

Add a finishing touch with lip gloss. The gloss will add depth and give the appearance of plumper, fatter lips. Take it along in your purse for quick touch-ups.

Extra Kissable Lips

For a poufy pout, apply a glob of petroleum jelly onto lips and gently rub in with a soft toothbrush. Follow up with lip balm.

Being a teen in today’s world brings many pressures from society to look good. The media is full of beautiful faces that add to the stress of growing up. Don’t let that undermine your self-confidence! What’s a girl to do? There are many ways to enhance your natural beauty and keep a practical skin care and make-up routine. These tips will help bring out the best in you, but remember, good posture and a smile give a great first impression.

Skin Care Tips

Teenagers have different skin care and make-up needs than mature women. At what age should a teen begin a skin care regimen? Skin care should actually start when they are preteens, as early as the age of 10 or 11. Hormones start to kick in and blemishes may begin to appear.

As you mature, your skin care needs will change, as your skin does. Pay special attention to what products you are using and if there are any undesirable affects taking place. What makes your skin look radiant one month may cause blemishes and break-outs the next.

Moisturizer

At an early age, a light moisturizer may be called for — but do not use heavy creams made for dry skin. Choose a product that is formulated for light skin care maintenance and does not block your pores.

A heavy moisturizer will probably wreak havoc and cause pimples. Try using a light moisturizer only once a day, before bedtime. Any more often than that is probably be overdoing it.

Pimples and Blemishes

Acne is a #1 skin care concern for teens. Keep your face and hair clean, wash your hands frequently, and keep them away from your face. There are many products available on the market today for acne prevention and cures, and they are much more effective than years ago.

Once you begin experiencing problems, take action to avoid lifetime scarring. You can go to the Blemishes Page to find out how to get rid of pimples, preventative maintenance and how to reduce the appearance of blemishes once they appear.

Make-up for Teenagers

Most teenage girls begin wearing light make-up around the ages of 12-13 as they become more aware of their appearance. As a teen, your make-up should look natural and enhance your facial features. Don’t overdo it, this will only make you look silly. With a few simple, inexpensive products, you can play up your finest features — and look great!

Keep your make-up light for school. You don’t need to use make-up on every facial feature you have! Mix and match to find out what looks best on you.

For parties, you may want to add a little more make-up to enhance your features. Make sure you blend it in well with your fingers or a cosmetics brush and check it in bright light when you’re finished.

Foundation

Foundation for teens is not necessary. While it can clog your pores, it will also look overdone. Skip the foundation and use a concealer on your blemishes only. Lightly dust on some loose powder over your entire face to even out your skin tone, control oil, and set the concealer.

Freckles

Don’t try to hide your freckles. You may not appreciate them, but they are part of you. Exposure to sunlight makes freckles darker so avoiding the sun and using a sunscreen will keep them in check. As you get older, they can fade — and then they won’t be an issue.

Eye Make-up

You may not be interested in eye shadow until you’re a little older. If so, that’s great. When you do begin wearing it, keep it light and use any trendy metallics and sparkles sparingly. They can flake off into your eyes and cause irritation. Eye shadow does not have to match your eyes, however earth tones (tan, brown, gray) are very complimentary to blue, brown and hazel eyes.

When you begin using mascara, brown works best for both blondes and brunettes. Black is probably too harsh, especially in the daytime. If you think brown isn’t dark enough, try brownish-black.

Waterproof mascara may be necessary for sports and outdoor activities in warm weather. It stays on longer and doesn’t run — but it’s harder to take off. It’s best to keep make-up to a minimum and you won’t have to worry about undesired smearing.

If you’re going to use an eyeliner, a pencil liner looks more natural than liquid liner. Learn to apply it with a steady hand for straight lines, and blot it with a tissue if you get it on too dark.

Blush

Liquid and stick blush are popular choices for teens because they glide on smoothly and blend in well. Pinks and peaches compliment almost any skin tone. Apply to the apple of your cheeks and blend outwards, towards your hairline.

Lips

For luscious lips, lip gloss does the trick. If you want to add some color to your lips for a nighttime look, try a lipstick in a sheer color. For extra shine, put the lip gloss on over your lipstick. Always have lip balm handy for chapped lips.

General Makeup Advice

As with any make-up, blending is the key. Check your make-up in daylight if possible and don’t be afraid to swipe off any access with a tissue. For additional tips, check out our Makeup Tips page.

If you ever experience any skin irritation, quit using make-up immediately until you find out what the problem is. Consult your dermatologist for the best remedy.

Eyebrow pencils with a smooth, light texture and soft, dry finish are good for filling in eyebrows and give them a natural look too, while defining their shape. Begin application in the center of the brow and work outward toward the brow tip then back toward the beginning of the brow.

Use short, light strokes between the brow hairs, and apply a bit more pressure (for stronger color) when defining the underside of the brow. Use a clean toothbrush (or a brow brush, which is similar but more expensive) to soften the color and groom the brow. Alternately, you may apply a bit of hairspray to the toothbrush, and comb this through the brow for hold and control.

Keep in mind that most brow pencils deposit stronger color than a powder, so take care to use a light touch. If you apply too much color, soften the effect with a Q-Tip that has been dipped in makeup remover. Do not apply eyebrow pencil too close to the inner brow (near the nose).

Adding more than a bit of color here tends to create a too-strong or angry-looking brow. A combination approach , using a pencil with powder, can give you the control and delineation of a pencil, and the softer, shaded look of a powder. You can try shaping the brow with the powder first and then finish the detail work with the pencil or brow gel. This is especially helpful if you have bald spots in your eyebrow or need to slightly extend the end of your brows so they frame your eyes better.

Eyebrow Filling

Useful Tips on Eyebrow Filling:

A thicker brow with a sharp eyebrow pencil using light, feathery strokes, adding color to thinner areas.

As much as possible, work only with the hair that is there. The idea is to shade rather than draw on eyebrows.

Brush the brow up with a toothbrush.

Apply the color by filling in the shape of the brow between the hairs where needed.

Dermal fillers are substances used to restore volume, giving a more beautiful youthful appearance to the face. The dermal fillers are widely used to restore facial contours, reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, creases, to plump thin lips and to enhance hollow contours. What dermal filler can do is depending on the type of the used filler and the state of the skin.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DERMAL FILLERS?

Restore volume and fullness in the face

Soften and restore facial lines

Reduce and improve the appearance of fine lines, creases and recessed scars

Enhance lip fullness

Add volume to the skin creating youthful appearance

Remove frown lines between the eyes

Treat and fill acne scars

Reduce crows feet and wrinkles around the nose and mouth

Plump out hollow cheeks

Reshape nose tip or chin

Add shape and contour to the face

Replace soft tissue volume loss

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF DERMAL FILLERS ?
As the dermal fillers have the property to return the dermis to its original youthful state, nowadays they are very popular amongst those women who want to stop the aging process and to remove the signs of aging. There are many types of fillers that restore and reshape the obvious signs of facial aging, delivering long lasting results. Today there are many types of dermal fillers, some based on natural substances derived from the human body, others are synthetic forms of these substances and some may contain synthetic, biocompatible compounds.

The dermal fillers can be divided into three main categories:
1 collagen based fillers
2 hyaluronic acid based fillers
3 calcium hydroxyl apetite fillers

Depending on the period of time the filler will be effective the fillers can be divided to:

1 temporary fillers that substitute the natural tissues – they last for a period between 3 and 9 months

2 temporary fillers that stimulate the formation of new tissues – they can last up to 1 year

3 permanent fillers – most of the permanent fillers contain non-biodegradable particles which usually stay constantly in the injected place.

Hyaluronic acid – It’s a natural substance found in the human body. Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in the way your skin looks, feels, and functions. Hyaluronic acid creates volume in the face, giving it a healthy, youthful appearance. Hyaluronic acid injections work by filling the space between collagen and elastin fibers within the skin, which replenishes the natural volume lost with aging. As hyaluronic acid is clinically produced the risk of allergies is very low. Nowadays the fillers containing hyaluronic acid are the most popular.

Hydroxyl apatite is heavy dermal filler. Hydroxylapatite is used mainly to treat deep creases, frown lines as well as to enhance the fullness of the cheeks. It is a mineral like compound that is naturally found in human bodies.

RADIESSE
Radiesse /previously known as Radiance/ is popular dermal filler that delivers immediate, long lasting result. It’s a form of hydroxyl apatite and is completely biocompatible. It is made of a synthetic substance containing microspheres of calcium hydroxylapetite. As it is very “heavy” Radiesse is mainly used to fill deeper creases, to enhance fullness of the cheeks and other facial contours. Radiesse is injected into the skin through a simple and minimally invasive procedure giving immediate, visible improvement of folds and wrinkles, and providing long-lasting and beautiful results. This filler not only fills in wrinkles, but it stimulates the body to produce new collagen which is essential for a healthy and young-looking skin. Because Radiesse is strong facial filler, it can last up to two years or more.

RESTYLANE
Restylane – based on hyaluronic acid. It’s crystal-clear, non-animal, biodegradable gels. An anti-wrinkle treatment with Restylane is not permanent but a long-lasting. It can be effective for up to 1 year or more after the treatment of wrinkles. Restylane works great to plump thin lips and fill in facial creases, it’s also appropriate for surface wrinkles and concave scars. Restylane is FDA approved and is widely used for soft tissue augmentation. As it is not animal based the risk of allergic reaction is very low and it’s safe to use instantly without pre-testing. Restylane is very popular as it adds volume to the skin without affecting the natural expressions for example like the treatment with Botox. The filler is the most popular dermal filler in the world that is used to contour the face and to enhance the beauty of the face instantly.

JUVEDERM
Juvederm – Dermal filler used to restore a smoother, younger look. It is from the group of the hyaluronic acid fillers. Juvederm is a great choice for those who want to enhance the lips’ size, to correct deep wrinkles and to remove facial lines. Juvederm can also be used to contour cheeks areas and chin. It is injected under the skin to instantly restore the skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. Juvederm is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective, the result may last for up to 7/ 8 months.

ARTECOLL
Artecoll /also known as ArteFill /is another very popular dermal filler in Europe but unfortunately it is still not FDA approved in the USA. It is used as an injectable micro-implant for long-lasting subdermal augmentation, which includes the correction of wrinkles and of other defects in the connective tissue – Artecoll is mainly used for correction of small subdermal and osseous defects. This filler is made of polymethylmethacrylate microspheres that are suspended in bovine collagen and as it is collagen based, the patients should be tested for allergy to bovine collagen prior to the treatment.

HYLAFORM
Hylaform is another very popular and widely used dermal filler made from a highly purified form of hyaluronic acid that mimics the effects of natural hyaluronic acid. When injected just below the surface of the skin, Hylaform adds volume to the skin, smoothing unwanted lines and wrinkles. When Hylaform gel is injected into an area on the face, it naturally replaces the hyaluronic acid in the skin which is lost with time. The results with this filler are immediate and long lasting.

EVOLENCE
Evolence is collagen based soft tissue filler that restores a natural, youthful appearance by replenishing the lost collagen, adding volume and smoothing wrinkles and folds. Evolence is injected just below the skin’s surface, where it replaces lost collagen and adds support to your skin’s own remaining collagen network. The results are long-lasting and the risk of allergic reaction is low.

ISOLAGEN
Isolagen is very popular filler used to fill in deep wrinkles, fine lines, deep folds and scars. Isolagen is derived from the patient’s own tissue and cannot be rejected by the human immune system.

Before the treatment with dermal filler you should:

Make sure that the surgeon is a licensed physician and has completed extensive training and examinations in plastic surgery

Make sure you inform your physician for your state of health, lifestyle and desires

Make sure you discuss the outcome of the soft tissue augmentation and any risk or potential complications

Make sure you that you have informed your doctor about any past treatments with injectable fillers, Botox or previous plastic surgeries.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT?
First your physician will carefully evaluate your facial appearance and skin tone, he/ she will examine the areas of your face to be augmented with injectable filler.
Depending on the type of the filler that will be injected, a numbing cream or a local anesthetic may be needed, even though that some fillers contain an anesthetic agent.
The surgeon will inject the filler under the skin into the previously marked areas.
The filler will remains in the skin where it binds water to produce a lift and firmness to the treated areas.
You may experience some discomfort for a few seconds.
After the treatment you may experience minimal discomfort like: mild swelling, bruising, redness or temporary numbness.

HOW LONG DOES THE RESULT LAST?
The length of the time that the dermal filler will last depends mainly on the type of the filler used and the area injected. Most of the facial fillers last up to eight months. The continued aging of the face and variables in the absorption of fillers will affect how long the result will last. If you are not happy with the result you shouldn’t repeat the treatment and your appearance will return to its original condition. Unlike the permanent implants or the general plastic surgeries, the dermal fillers can leave you a choice when the effect of the treatment has worn off.

REMEMBER:

You can combine dermal fillers with other anti-aging procedures like chemical peel or dermabrasion only after consultation with a physician.

Keep in mind that collagen fillers posses a high risk of allergies because collagen is a protein with animal origin.

After treatment with dermal filler you may experience slight redness, swelling and bruising but is usually settles by the following day.

Always ask your physician for the advantages and the disadvantages of every type of dermal filler, depending on the result you want to achieve.

Keep in mind that each filler has its own risk profile.

Everybody wants to look great in photos and pictures. Unfortunately not everyone is blessed with a natural beauty – some of us have to work harder in order to look great in photos, some have to conceal blemishes /pimples, discolorations, large pores/, other have to change their hairstyle and clothing. If you are going to be photographed do not forget to take your makeup bag with you as you will need a few makeup products.
Here you can read about the simple tricks you can do to look great in photos.

PERFECT BASE FOR A PERFECT START
The professional makeup artists highly appreciate the healthy, clear and naturally beautiful skin. But if your skin isn’t flawless you will have to use a few makeup products to achieve this. Every makeup artist use a makeup primer / a makeup base/. A good makeup primer will hide imperfections like, large pores, small pimple, skin discolorations, spots, freckles and so on. There are even eyelid primers that conceal the yellowing hints under your eyes.

PERFECT EYES
The darker the circles under your eyes are, the thicker the concealer should be. To hide puffy bags apply the concealer only over the darker parts. Never smear the concealer, simply use your finger tips to apply it with light movements.

EXPRESSIVE EYES
Applying eyeshadows is not a must if you want to look flawless in the photos. If you are going to apply eyeshadows you had better use light colors – blue, white, pink, golden, silver, brown, greenish. Apply the shadows only in the centre of the eyelids.
If you want to make your eyes appear bigger you should apply light eyeshadows only at the inner rims of your eyes, line the lower lashline with a light eyeliner.

Tweezing your eyebrows is the most dramatic way to change your face without makeup or surgery. It can make your eyes look larger and give your face a clean, polished look.

Steps:

1. Sit near a window to get the best light.

2. Wash the area thoroughly so it’s not oily.

3. Decide what shape you want for your eyebrows.

Styles change: It may help to flip through fashion magazines for ideas.

4. Draw in a brow line on your eyebrow with a brow pencil to serve as
a guide. Follow the brow’s natural line by conforming to the curve of your upper eyelid.

5. Pull the skin at the outer end of the eyebrow taut against the brow bone, and use the brow bone as an additional guide.

6. Use a pair of angled eyebrow tweezers to pluck the hairs below the brow; never shape your brow by plucking above it. Pluck only one hair at a time.

7. Start plucking in the middle of the eyebrow and pluck toward the outer end; then go back to the middle and pluck toward the nose.

Your brows should extend a little beyond each corner of your eye.

8. Use a cotton ball or pad soaked in pure tea tree oil or witch hazel to soothe your plucked brows.

Tips

Consider having your brows waxed once professionally to get exactly the shape you want. You can then pluck the strays as they grow in.

Habitual plucking may make some hairs stop growing permanently, so pluck with caution.

There are tweezers on the market that are specially designed for plucking eyebrows. They cost a bit more but make the experience less painful.

Eyebrow Tweezing

Always grasp the hair as close to the root as possible. The further away from the root you grasp, the more it hurts. Hold the skin down and pull slowly in the opposite direction to the tweezers. This also reduces pain, as well as the risk of ingrown hairs. If you yank the tip of the hair with the tweezers without supporting the skin, you risk snapping the hair just below the skins surface. This is one of the causes of ingrown hair. Exfoliate the skin regularly with a gentle exfoliant, it helps prevent ingrown hairs also. Be sure both skin and hair are dried before tweezing (skin is more sensitive when it is wet). A heat pad is ideal to prepare
the skin. Failing that, use a hot flannel and dry off before tweezing.

The beauty of Threading

Threading is much easier than waxing. When you wax, you run the risk of pulling out wanted hairs. Tweezing is painful, as you’re pulling out each hair one by one. The best thing to do is thread. Go to a salon – - threading is not for amateurs. No product is being used on your skin (such as wax). You can pluck the hairs as they grow in. I advise you to put an ointment on after threading, as some people experience redness. Be aware of the ‘green shadow’ that may come from waxing/threading/tweezing. When the hair grows back in its place, it leaves a green shadow. I find threading to be the best way to remove it!

So it’s OK if your hair grows in for a week or two – - you can remove the shadow all at once!

Taking care of yourself is a daily affair. It is part of that well-groomed look. In fact, beauty is not just a question of how you look, but how you feel and at no time is this more relevant than during the hot days of summer.

Make-up and grooming both pose problems during summers. Due to excessive heat and perspiration, make-up never seems to last. Therefore it should be kept to a bare minimum, especially during the day.

For facial skin

A daily skin care regimen pays rich dividends. If the skin is clear, without any blemishes, one does not need foundation. Heavy foundations become “caked” and streaky with perspiration during summers showing up natural creases, lines and wrinkles. So, try to avoid them. During the day, use a colorless baby powder as it’s not only light, but has a transparent sheen, which is more flattering.

For the night, if you wish to use foundation, choose a water-based one and blend well. You can even add a drop or two of water, before applying it. This helps to give a lighter coverage. You can also go for the pansticks, to which you can add water before use. If you use a concealor for blemishes, it should be done before using the foundation. Pat the foundation with a damp sponge when you apply it, so that the concealer is not rubbed off.

For your lips

After using lipstick, add a touch of lip-gloss, which actually gives a “cool” look. Or, you can use frosty lipsticks. You can even add a touch of your lip-gloss on the centre of the upper eyelids. These are some of the tricks to look cool.

For colors in lipstick, choose from light pink and mauve, which are “icy” colors and look cool. It may be a good idea to stick to lip-gloss during the day. For the night, you should use brighter colors, as artificial light tends to drain color. You can go for plum, wine, burgundy, coral, bronze. You can even wear a bright red at night.

For your eyes

Eye make-up during the day should also be light. In fact, you can leave out eyeliner and pencil and line your eyes with brown eye shadow. Then apply mascara. This helps to darken the eyes, without heavy eye make-up.

For the night, eye make-up can be heavier, lining the lids with eyeliner or pencil. If you use eyeliner, smudge the line with a sponge applicator. This gives a smoky effect and is better than a harsh black line. At night, use a frosted highlight (white or very light color) on the brow bone and shine on the eyelids.

Grooming

As far as grooming is concerned, the golden rule for summer is simplicity. Loose, light clothing is much more appropriate and comfortable during summer. Cotton shields can be used under the arms to absorb sweat and protect clothing. Daily changes of clothing are a must. In fact, in summer two changes of clothing help to avoid body odour.

For your clothes, simple lines and pastel, serene colors would be suitable. Flowing styles look and feel cool. Another “cool” trick is to use two shades of the same color, like two progressive shades of silver blue or powder pink. Stick to neutral shades and favor whites. Materials, like cotton, organza, chiffon, lace and so on, look summery and feel comfortable.

Avoid synthetic fabrics, as they do not allow perspiration to evaporate. Tight figure hugging dresses should also be avoided. Large prints or bold abstract ones detract from the cool look. Candy stripes and baby checks in soft pastel shades, trimmed with lace, looks attractive in hot weather. If you are in the mood for prints, go for the soft, subtle shades, which merge into one another.

Go slow on jewellery

Cut down on jewellery for hot days. Choose one striking accessory. Silver has a cooler look than gold. Pearls also make one look cool and elegant. Avoid tight chokers around the neck. Long, loose dangling chains or beads are better for summer.

Keep your hair simply styled and away from the face. Try to keep the nape of the neck free of hair. It will make you look and feel cool. If you have long hair, put it up with the help of a large hair clip, ribbon, or scrunchy, coordinating them with your clothes. In fact, a large number of hair styling aids are available nowadays. It is a question of keeping your eyes and mind open. Try to be a good observer and be creative.

For your feet

Pay special attention to your feet. After washing them well. Dry thoroughly and apply talcum powder. If you wear closed shoes, sprinkle some in the shoes too. In the hot season, slippers and open sandals are best, as they allow the perspiration to evaporate. However, open footwear attracts dirt and foot hygiene becomes all the more important. After a hot day, soak your feet in cold water, to which some salt has been added.

During summer, keep to light fragrances, rather than heavy concentrated ones. A light cologne or toilet water may be enough. Floral or lemony fragrances are just right in summer. Cologne, after a shower, can be most refreshing.

If party invitations are piling up and there’s no time to visit a beauty salon, then don’t worry… here are some quick tips from our expert. Whether you are a working woman or a housewife, the lack of time for elaborate beauty treatments can be a problem. If you do have the time, then go for a salon facial. That will deep cleanse the pores and make the skin look brighter. But do not forget that looking your best means not overlooking the minute details. Chipped nail varnish or untidy hair can spoil the Cinderella look that you have worked so hard to get. A little planning in advance goes a long way.

Make them all fall for you!

Give yourself a manicure and pedicure the day before the big night. After soaking the hands and feet in warm water, give them a massage with a rich cream, so that the skin is smooth and soft. For extreme dryness of the skin on the feet, it is a good idea to apply lots of cream at bedtime. Wear cotton socks and go to sleep. A good pick-me-up treatment for the hands is to rub them with sugar and lemon juice. Pay attention to details like waxing and threading at least a day in advance.

Add body to your hair

If your hair is looking dull, give it a quick conditioning treatment before your shampoo. Mix one teaspoon each of vinegar and glycerin with one egg. Beat them together well. Massage the mixture into the scalp. Then wrap the hair in a hot towel for 20-minutes, before washing the hair. Your hair will have more body and look shiny and manageable.

Indulge yourself

There is nothing like having a luxurious tub-bath before you start getting dressed for the party. Add any vegetable oil along with rose water to your bath water. It relaxes the body and your skin feels soft and smooth too. If you have a dry skin problem, apply a lemon-turmeric cream before your bath and wipe the skin with a moist towel after fifteen minutes.

All bright and glowing

A quick pick-me-up facemask can leave your skin clean and glowing. Mix almond meal with one teaspoon each of honey, egg white and yogurt. Apply it on the face and wash off with water after 20 minutes. Egg white can also be applied by itself. It tightens and clears the skin. For those with very dry skin, apply an emollient mask by mixing cream of milk with honey. Leave it on for half an hour and rinse off with water. It leaves the skin very soft and glowing. If you don’t have the time to mix and grind, a peel-off mask can add that touch of brightness to the skin. Remember to cleanse your skin before applying the facemask.

After applying the facemask, soak two cotton wool pads in rose water and use them as eye pads. Used tea bags also make good eye pads. Lie down and relax, while you have the mask and eye pads on. This is extremely refreshing and a great restorer of both body and mind. It will also help to remove fatigue and brighten the eyes. Once you rinse off the facemask, your skin will be ready for make-up.
