Traveling Coin
Effect:
The magician borrows a coin, which he places beneath his left foot.
When he raises his foot, the coin has disappeared, and it appears beneath the magician’s right foot.
Trick:
This trick should be performed when seated. Two coins are used. One is secretly placed beneath the right heel. The magician may lift his right foot slightly and draw it backwards without revealing the coin. When he takes the first coin, he pretends to place it beneath his left foot, but drops it in his trousers cuff en route-a very simple yet effective action. Then the coin passes from the left foot to the right, both feet being raised to show the accomplishment
Cough it up
Effect:
The phrase “cough it up” takes on a whole new meaning with this coin trick!
Supplies You Need:
1- A Coin
Setup:
You should practice a few times before you perform. No other set-up is needed.
How to Perform:
Bend over and show the audience the top of your head. Tell them, “You know the saying, ‘You need that like you need another hole in your head?’ Well, sometimes having an extra hole in your head comes in handy– and I do!” As you tell them this, you will be performing a quick and easy vanish with the coin.
Hold out your hands, palms up. Rest the coin on the tip of the second and third fingers of the right hand.
Holding the coin in place with your right thumb, turn your hand so your palm faces down, then raise it above and to the right of your left hand.
Put the coin in the center of your left palm. As you take away your right hand, (the coin is still held between the thumb and fingers of your right hand) hold the fingers together. Then close the fingers on your left hand, as if you were closing them over the coin.
When you pull away your right hand, the fingers of your left hand, as they close, should lightly sweep against the back of the right fingers. Move your right hand away a few inches from the left. Then cup the second, third, and fourth fingers, leaving the index finger extended.
Tap your left wrist with the right index finger, and let your right hand drop to your side (the left hand is still cupped). To your audience it should look like your left hand is now securely holding the coin.
Bring your left hand above your head and lightly slap the top of your head. At the same time, bring your right hand to your mouth and cough loudly.
Bring your left hand down from your head and let the audience see the coin drop from your right hand into your left. “My doctor hates it when I do this,” you can say. “But what else is an extra hole in the head good for?”
Coin Disappeared
Effect:
The magician shows a glass, upside down, and a coin on a sheet of colored paper.
He puts a handkerchief over the glass and moves it over.
He pulls the handkerchief off and Abracadabra! the coin has disappeared.
Supplies:
A sheet of construction paper, a clear glass, a handkerchief and a coin.
Preparation:
Trace the glass onto the sheet of paper and cut the circle out. Then tape it to the glass so when you put it onto a piece of paper the same color it blends in.
Secret:
When you do the above put the glass onto a piece of paper and just basically move the paper covered glass over the coin while the whole thing is under the handkerchief so the glass covers the coin. Pull off the handkerchief. The coin will have disappeared.
Coin and Pins
How to do:
A coin is laid on the table, and the magician, taking two pins, lifts the coin with them, the points pressing against the edge of the coin. Then the magician blows upon the coin and it revolves between the pin points.
Be sure to use a coin with a milled edge; otherwise the trick will be nearly impossible. With the proper coin, it can be readily learned
The Bouncing Coin
Effect:
A coin is thrown on the floor. It immediately bounces up to the magician’s hand.
Trick:
This is accomplished by throwing the coin so that it revolves like a wheel and strikes squarely on its edge. It will then bounce right up, especially if thrown on a stone floor.
The coin must be thrown with considerable force.
Coin is still there
Supplies:
1- paper or plastic cup either works fine
2- paper towel
3- a coin
4- and a hard surface
What you do is place the cup over the coin and cover the cup up with the paper towel. The audience should be on the opposite side of the table and you should be sitting. Lift up the cup and make the audience concentrate on the coin, while they are not looking drop the cup on your lap still holding the paper towel (which should be in the shape of the cup) place it back on the table. When you have the audiences attention smash down the cup and drop the cup from your lap and show the audience that there is no hole in the table and the coin is still there.
Coin Balance
Effect:
You can balance a coin at your fingertips, but no one else can!
Requirements:
One large coin, one straight pin.
Trick:
Have a regular straight pin concealed in one hand, between the first two fingers. With the other hand, pull a coin out of your pocket and allow it to be examined by the audience, or borrow a coin from one of them!
When you get the coin back, lay it down on top of the straight pin in your other hand. Now, raise the coin to a standing position near the ends of your fingers, and as you do raise the straight pin with it, making sure no one but you knows the pin is there.
Keep pressure on the pin held between your two fingers, and the coin will balance there as if held by unseen forces! You can talk about mind over matter, or wiggle the fingers of your other hand over the coin as if that was where your power emanated from!
After a few moments, slowly release pressure on the pin, and it should let the coin gently drift back down onto your fingers! Don’t forget to get rid of the pin while people are examining the coin again!
An Appearing Coin
Effect:
A handkerchief is shown absolutely empty. It is rolled into a ball and given to a person to hold. A dime immediately appears in the center of the handkerchief.
Trick:
Use a handkerchief with a very broad border. Take a few stitches out of the border and there will be a pocket to hold the coin. This side of the cloth is downward when the handkerchief is shown. When the handkerchief is rolled up, the coin slides out of the pocket and into the center of the handkerchief.
