   this is in Manchester UK, it is a bus only access the cars should not be there, the busses(and public service vehicles) have some kind of sensor to lower the bollards

   I think the point of the freakin pillars is to force people to stop so that they will drive slowly and be less likely of getting in an accident, but the damn things seem to cause more accidents than if they weren’t there.
   It’s probobly in France. Where else?

    They should be fucking illegal! If that happened to my car i’d sue the councils fucking arse off! Someone not familar with the area could be following a car down the street with no idea that there were any bollards there. Even if there are signs it’s still not acceptable, but there aren’t even signs with some of them!!!

    Your wrong and right. yes it does detect weight but it will only lower if its a public service vehicle IE bus, police, ambulance, bin truck, post van etc. public service vehicles are fitted with a device that transmits the correct code back to the barriers.

    The first driver, she saw the pole

    Then waited for a bus to pull through and tried to follow up. That one definitely caused the crash herself

    The giant bar is used everywhere else because you can easily see it and the mechanism that moves it. You KNOW it’s there even if you have not been on that street before.

    In all practicality, it’s far more pragmatic than poles that recede into the grown then pop up as you drive through.

    To be honest I blame the idiots who put two fucking poles in the ground as the stopping guard. Something that can only be seen if you KNOW it’s there in the first place, or if nobody is driving through before you.

    Why didn’t they just put the giant fucking bar that drops down that EVERYBODY knows and accepts? It prevents dumb shit like this. Damn europeans inventing dumb stuff.
